DIFERENTE A LOS DEMAS, PRIMER FILM GAY DE LA HISTORIA.

En 1918 Alemanía abolía la censura, ello permitió el rodaje y estreno de este film mudo de casi una hora de duración. Anders als die Andern (Diferente a los demás) fue un proyecto cinematográfico dirigido por Richard Oswald en el que colaboró de forma activa MagnusHirschfeld.

El film se estrenó sin ningún problema, pero el revuelo creado tuvo como consecuencia el regreso de la censura y su prohibición pública.El film solo pudo ser consultado por profesionales.

El film nos cuenta la historia sentimental entre dos hombres Paul y Kurt que poco a poco van haciendo visible su relación. Al principio los padres intentan su curación, pero el propioMagnus Hirschfeld les dice:


"No debéis condenar a vuestro hijo porque sea homosexual, él no debe ser culpado se su orientación. No está mal, ni debería ser un crimen. De hecho, no es ni siquiera una enfermedad, simplemente una forma diferente, y una que es habitual en la naturaleza"

El film por primera vez nos muestra el ambiente de locales gais de la época. En él nos podemos encontrar un alegato contra las curas de la homosexualidad, por parte del mismoMagnus Hirschfeld. Quien le dice a uno de los protagonistas:


"El amor por alguien de tu mismo sexo no es menos puro que el amor por el sexo opuesto. Esta orientación se puede encontrar en todas las capas de la sociedad y entre personas respetables. Aquellos que dicen lo contrario provienen de la ignorancia y los prejuicios".

The film premiered without any problem, but the commotion created resulted in the return of censorship and its public prohibition. The film could only be consulted by professionals.

The film tells the sentimental story between two men Paul and Kurt who are slowly making their relationship visible. At first the parents try to cure him, but Magnus Hirschfeld himself tells them:


"You should not condemn your child because he is homosexual, he should not be blamed for his orientation, it is not wrong, nor should it be a crime, in fact it is not even an illness, just a different form, and one that is habitual in nature "

The film for the first time shows us the atmosphere of gay locals of the time. In it we can find an allegation against the cures of homosexuality, by the same Magnus Hirschfeld. Who tells one of the protagonists:


"Love for someone of your same sex is no less pure than love for the opposite sex." This orientation can be found in all layers of society and among respectable people, those who say otherwise come from ignorance and prejudice. ".
